my visit to an art exhibition by German artists part-1

Today,I had several hours to kill in college. The exhibition of the artwork done by the contemporary German artist Rosemarie Trockel at Lalit Kala Academy and by contemporary artists Nele Martins(Germany) and Rakhee Kane(India) at Gallery Veda offered me an escape route from the sheer boredom I was experiencing due to idleness in college.

I entered the art gallery with the assumption that the all the artwork would be very mechanical and would have a standard style, considering the stereotyped 'German' mentality but I was proved wrong. The displayed works were a blend of several different styles of art.The first glance of the sketches would indeed make the viewer feel that anybody who has acquired artistic skills would be able to do them with ease and would thus question its exhibition. However, you must realize that art is not just about drawing or sketching or painting.Art is something that conveys ideas that the dictionary did not have sufficient words to provide for expression. Each artist has his/her own individuality.Even if the same picture has been painted by two different artists identically, the viewer would  be able to find out that it has been done by two different people even though both the paintings may have the same visual aspects. Therefore, each artist will invariably have his/her own style.
So these are the snaps of the artworks that were displayed-:

SAW AN EXHIBITED CRAYON WORK FOR THE FIRST TIME

Well I have not given each picture a caption as pictures themselves speak 'a 1000 words'.I have given captions only where necessary. One piece of artwork is like a 1000 paged book in which each person writes his/her own connotation(personal meaning) and not denotation(technical/dictionary meaning). Art is something which is not argumentative in nature, due to its extremely high level of subjectivity.Art makes a person discover his/her own originality. However,I have decided not to publicly share the meaning I have attached to each piece of artwork as my connotation completely differs from the intended meaning of the artist.Apparently, the artist wanted to convey feminist ideas through her work, while I am unable to relate any of these pieces of artwork to feminism due to which I decided to restrict my analysis to the aesthetic aspects of the art work.
If you look at each painting, the range and  style followed and the materials used differ completely which is contrary to what I expected from German paintings. The artist has exhibited doodles, sketches, water color paintings, alphabet art and crayon paintings and the variety indeed captivated my attention towards the details, which indeed provided me several insights into the thinking pattern of German artists.Being a psychology student that is something I really should understand,as art is also a form of therapeutic technique and this exhibition was indeed helpful instilling a multitude of ideas.
Wait for the next post to read about my opinion about the other exhibition.
